A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to the Screenshake 2017 event in Antwerp (Belgium). Screenshake was held from Friday, February 10 till Sunday, February 12 and the main theme of the event were Indie games. I’m always up for a great adventure, so I didn’t hesitate and confirmed that I would definitely be present. And I didn’t regret this decision for a second!
Our Screenshake adventure started with a game called Hoverloop. In Hoverloop, you choose a drone-like robot, which you can fully customize to match your own preferences. After that, you’ll have to select an arena and then we start counting..3..2..1.. GO!
Yellow is a puzzle game for mobile devices made by just one person: Bart Bonte. The goal of the game is to turn the entire screen yellow, but it’s a bit more complicated than just painting the screen with a virtual brush...
Lallo Yuma is a game developed by a young student called Jonathan Wolf. Lallo represents lost, Yuma represents son: Lallo Yuma – Lost Son. But, Yuma can also be translated as "successor", which fits perfectly into the context of the game!
Revolve is a self-titled “Triggeractive Platformer”, developed by indie developer Rusty Bolt. At Screenshake 2017, I had the honor of meeting Rusty Bolt’s founder: Steven Delrue. Instead of explaining how the game works, he just gave me a controller!
Imagine; You’re a cowboy in the Wild West and you have been challenged to duel. So a couple of minutes before your twelve, you take your position on Main Street, in front of the towns’ church. You opponent stands in front of you...
DEFEND YOUR FRIEND
I love a good coop puzzle game and Help your friend by is the perfect example of what Ferry “Sadhonker” Adams and I would love to play on a rainy Sunday. On this occasion however, I enlisted the help of my sister –in-law: Diana Dumee-Wolters.
The man behind Godbeast is Jochem Mistiaen. He developed Godbeast purely for fun and because of his hobby and passion: video games! When I was asked to try the game, Jochem asked if I ever played the Colossus or Souls series, so I was prepared for a very difficult game.
SHE REMEMBERED CATERPILLARS
Our DumeeGamer award for most beautiful looking and cute game goes to She Remembered Caterpillars by Jumpsuit Entertainment. In She Remembers Caterpillars, one or more little creatures have to make their way to a flower and it's your job to get them there safely!
THE BERRY GARDEN - PLAYABLE PRINTS
Every time I go to an expo or event, there’s always something surprising, something I never saw before. At Screenshake it was the concept of Playable Prints. It’s such a simple concept and so brilliant at the same time, that I almost hate myself for not coming up with this idea myself.
